Seriously, Dogs

Dogs. seriously, dogs
Current mood: cooky/wacky
Category: Pets and Animals

here's what interesting about me, one of many things, i'm sure... i must contradict myself a minimum of five times a day. really, there are times when even i am confused by my own proclaimations. for instance, we all know i am not a responsible pet owner. i lack a nuturing gene or something... i have regularly vowed to never own a dog. the thought of always having to be home at a certain time to walk the dog or spend time with the dog or feed the dog rather sickens me. also, who wants to walk the dog in the snow, in the rain, or in the 103 degree heat??!! why have pets in general? i'm not a cuddler, i'm not very affectionate, and i am constantly disappointed by my cat's (or really, orion's cat) inability to simply care for itself.

yet...

awww... i so want this puggle. it is so freaking cute. i found this pug rescue source online and there are all these free pugs and pug half breeds on there and i want one. seriously.
when i was very young (okay, twelve) i found a little black schipperke roaming my neighborhood and begged my parents to let me keep it. after a really half-assed search for her real owners, i was allowed to. she was the cutest dog ever. schipperkes look like this:

yeah, seriously. everyone loved her. the problem was i got tired of taking care of her and became more and more forgetful when it came to things like, uh, feeding her, and well, walking her. eventually i got so lazy that instead of walking her i'd just let her out in the back yard. you already know how this story is going to end... one day i let her out in the yard and forgot that i did so... for three days. it wasn't until the following week when i realized that she wasn't yipping all over me for food like she normally did after a few days. so yeah, that was the end of Shadow; for me anyway. The following fall i saw a little old lady walking her down leavitt (the street behind my parent's house) she was still wearing her little pink collar, so i was glad she made it out ok. we pretended not to recognize each other, and i was glad she found someone lonely enough to make her their world.

man, i want a puggle so bad.
