Has anyone else been having a lot of crazy dreams lately? Is that like a summer thing? Or it could be the weather in general, something about the barometric pressure? Every night they get more and more insane. Last night i dreamt orion was pregnant with and delivered our child, a little boy we named Teddy. The night before was the this crazy epic that involved me trying to find a place to dispose of two dead bodies in the trunk of my car. insanity. oh, and there was the one where arliss was married to orion and i was married to her baby daddy, it was very normal and sweet. i wasn't jealous. we were all out at dinner together. i had a little girl. oh yeah, and one this is the last one, i swear, another where i discovered that it was part of my new job description to blow up buildings. very normal, i just had to use a giant ray gun to explode buildings. neat!
I don't know. i think it could be that the air condition in our bedroom is kinda loud and does this loud resettling noise every hour or so, so maybe i'm just getting startled awake and remembering my dreams more. but still, how freaky right?
i'm considering just getting rid of the stupid thing. we've really only used it a handful of times, generally we set it to "fan" just to get some circulation. am i the only person in chicago that cannot stand air conditioning? i hate it. seriously. and i think it makes people sick in the summer (the season that your body is trying to beef up your immune system for winter, when it's really cold). i keep seeing on here that everyone is passing around a summer cold and i just have to keep saying, turn off the central air and put a box fan in the window. it feels so good, almost as good as a nice summer sweat. plus i hate the way air conditioning smells. maybe it's the freeon (or however that's spelled) or maybe it's the smell of recycled air; like being on an airplane. and my landlord keeps remarking that we should really get an airconditioner. it's starting to make me crazy. they hate it that we have all the windows open, which i don't understand at all. we're on the 2nd floor for starters, and isn't it just wrong to close up your house IN JULY?! i keep saying, "actually i'm not a big fan of air conditioning" but i think he thinks we're too poor or something. he dragged up this huge old one out of the basement, which was sweet, but he became considerably disgruntled when i said, "no really, i don't want an airconditioner" We have a tiny one in the bedroom so that we can sleep when it gets really hot, but other than that... meh.
also, we've starting accumulating furniture which has caused them no small amount of stress. it seems like they keep finding excuses to come up and look around. does anybody else live in a 2 flat? is this how it is? i didn't realize i was such a private person. plus, the coin slot of the dryer in the basement in jammed, and you don't have to put money in it to turn it on, so now supposedly we're on an "honor system" of using the dryer. i'm not totally sure what that means, but if he thinks he can use that an an excuse to jack up the rent he's got another thing coming. "honor system" what? it would be one thing if he put a jar on top of the dryer or something to drop chang into, but i think he just expects us to knock on the door and hand him money. yeaaaaaaah, about that... fix the machine if you want money.
ok, sorry that turned into a brief rant, but OH yeah, one more thing. in our new shopping for furniture trials and tribulations we have discovered that out doorways are a scant 29" wide. for real. we can get an extra inch or two if we take the door off the hinges, but let me tell you, it has NOT been easy to find a couch. we finally settled on this Domecile "apartment sofa" that's pretty short and would definately not have been my first choice. but it's green and chenille, so at least i escaped the horrors of microfiber. how in the world did that ever become so wildly popular? not only is it totally impractical (if you spill water on it it leaves a permanent mark) but it's also kind of weird. arliss says she like it because you can doodle little markings on the fabric with your finger. she and her son like to leave each other little smiley faces and such. weird.
oh my god, in reading over this note i realize how horrifically boring i've become. dreams? landlords? FURNITURE? what the fuck...
